Anne Kepner for CCCT

Public education is under attack and in California we need to step up and protect the community college system. I am prepared to work to ensure all Californians have access to a higher education.
As the product of California’s public education system from kindergarten through law school, including De Anza Community College, I personally know the transformative power of community colleges.
As an attorney for 30 years, I have advocated and fought for the protection of people’s rights and sought compensation when they have been harmed by large corporations.
As a parent of three children who have attended California’s public schools, I witness the power of education and the importance it plays in shaping and preparing our youth for the future.
As a trustee for ten years, and board president for 5 years, I have led our district in removing barriers so that students have the help and support they need to attend and succeed. Free tuition, childcare, health services, parking, and soon, free meals address widespread basic needs insecurity our students face. Under my leadership, our district has prioritized enrollment growth and we are seeing results through outreach to non-traditional student populations. These challenges are being experienced throughout the system and I am prepared to bring new ideas and energy to CCCT to strengthen community colleges throughout California.
Education lifts people out of poverty, provides them with personal and professional growth, and prepares leaders of tomorrow. Education equips the well qualified workforce that fuels our state’s economy. Education enables every mind to reach potential so that our nation does too. California’s community college system has improved the lives of millions, and millions more need our help.
We need to fight to protect our most vulnerable by ensuring equity in access, success, and support. We must leverage our collective experience to create opportunities and remove barriers for all Californians. We must support the 116 community colleges throughout our state as they adapt to a changing and challenging educational environment.
I am prepared to advocate for all students in California and ask for your support by electing Anne Kepner for CCCT.
CCCs face unprecedented challenges. It is critical that we:
As a critical thinker and consensus builder, I will work to build strong relationships with legislators, ensure voices and perspectives of all districts are heard, identify areas of common interest, and help negotiate a balance between differing local and statewide needs to move the League forward with a stronger collective voice.
